We awoke at 6:30 this morning, and watched the sun rise and video taped it. Breakfast was at 8:15, and we had Mexican omelets, complete with tomato sauce and refried beans, and fruit and cereal as usual. We had free time for a few minutes before heading out to check out the sea lions at Los Isolotes.
It was a 20 minute boat ride. There were hundreds of sea lions, varying in color and size, and ducked and dove all around the boat, encouraged by our clapping and squeals. They layed on the rocks, sun tanning, or showed off their blubber, and rolled around, we even saw some of the males fight. The young lions were sprawled on the other side of the island, and the older lions stayed on the main section. They were AMAZING!!
We then headed out to Tourista Beach. Once we got back to the cove, we got our snorkel gear and got out first lesson in snorkeling on the beach. We saw many puffer fish, some sea stars, sea cucumber, and various other fish (including tons of sergeant major). we snorkeled for about half an hour, and then came back to the boat for lunch, as the water was a tad bit chilly.
For lunch, we had shrimp soup and rice and tortilla chips, or rice and chicken salad for those who didn’t like shrimp. After lunch, we headed out for Isla San Francisco, and encountered some waves.
After 3 hours on the boat, we finally arrived, and had a few snacks of popcorn, cheezies and chips. We then went ashore and went through the tidal pools, and looked at many brittle stars, porcupine fish, pencil urchins, sea urchins, sea cucumber, and many hermit crabs. We then headed back up the beach and combed for quartz agates. We found many, and then headed back down the beach for the cactus talk.
We learned about Prickly pear, Old Mans Beard, Chain Link Cholla, and Pitaya. We then hiked to the salt beds, where the local fishermen  mine this natural resource. There was a very thick layer of sea salt all over.
We then headed back to the boat, and had some free time, then ate supper. We had Filet Mignon, Shrimp, and baked potatoes, with cake for dessert. After supper, we had several minutes of free time, before we began to organize the stuff for the orphanage.  We had over 40 bags for children and families, and anticipate making some children and parents very very happy.
Then we had some free time until bed. Amazing day, well spent and should be even better tomorrow!!!!
