Working on the Logbook.

A quick dip afterwards to cool off.

Head first.

Back flip.

A nice clean dive.

Heading back to the boat to continue our days adventures.

Landing on the shores on San Evaristo.

After passing out the gifts we brought down we

trekked through the town to the commercial salt pans.

Exploring some of the homes in the area.

A small pack of wild donkeys were kicking around.

One of approx. 70 salt pans.

Tasting unrefined sea salt.

Brennan encounters a scorpion.

Brandon was later stung by the scorpion and we put him in the bowels
of the boat to scream his way through the terror of the fever he had for 3 days.
Actually I'm just kidding! The scorpion was found dead on the beach.
Had you fooled for a moment didn't I?

Anywho...

Off to the beach beachcombing for treasures and such.

We headed back to the boat after a cool adventure in San Evaristo.

We spotted whales and took up our whalewatching positions.

One of two gray whales we encountered.

We awoke to the hot morning sun radiating upon us. During the morning, we ate breakfast and started work on our field guides. Later on we had a quick swim in very cold water, which woke us up. After a wonderful lunch we jumped into the pangas and headed off towards shore.
On shore was a small coastal fishing town made up of about 30 families. As we encountered the locals, we distributed bags of gifts that we brought with us to Mexico. The gifts were graciously received and we walked away with a good feeling. (Click on the Baja Gifts Program at the bottom of the page)
We continued our hike towards a huge set of salt pans. As we approached we noticed they were very large and that there were many. Lela told us that they were for commercial use. After exploring the salt pans and encountering wild donkeys we ventured ahead to the beach.
Exploring and collecting shells and quartz agates, we enjoyed the sun and the smell of the salt water. To cool off from the hot sun, some of us decided to jump into the waves but because of a strong undertow we were quickly told to remove ourselves. Though some of us were soaked, we joined the rest of the group for our journey back.
On the boat we spotted whales with a mottled gray appearance, which we soon learned were gray whales. After seeing them, we divided into groups to take turns in the pangas to see the whales up close. It was amazing to see them so close to us; they were about 2m away. It was an unbelievable experience.
After a supper of spectacular spaghetti, we all headed up to the uppermost level to watch the stars as well as have an astronomy lesson. Stasia explained to us how the universe and galaxy corresponds with each other and pointed out various constellations and stars with her extreme laser pointer. After pondering thoughts of the solar system and other life forms, we all hit our pillows with the hopes of day five being just as great as day four.
