Today was our last day at sea.  We woke up early for a 7 am adventure, which consisted of a panga ride to a nearby coral-rich beach and a hike atop red volcanic rocks in search of an ancient lava flow.  Alas, after only a short while of searching we found what we were looking for.  In the lava flow sat a fresh water oasis... and a large nest of stinging insects, likely bees or wasps.  Our hopes for taking a closer look at the water source were thwarted by this scary sight so we opted to keep walking.  What little green vegetation existed in this rocky area stuck out like a sore thumb against the red backdrop.  It is amazing that anything can live up there in the tiny cracks amidst the rocks. We posed in front of some cacti, looked at some agave plants and continued our way back to the panga.
Our stomachs were telling us it was breakfast time. Thankfully, a fantastic breakfast of the best French toast we had ever tasted, was waiting for us upon our return from the adventure.
After breakfast it was time for play.  We kayaked, we swam, we dove, and we flipped.  It was an awesome morning of play.  Rachel and Kate managed to “accidentally” flip the kayak.  They climbed back on to the kayak and paddled with the kayak upside down for a while.  Those girls just couldn’t manage to get the kayaking right. After an hour or two of play it was time to up anchor and head for La Paz.  We had one more lunch, of fresh, baked fish and rice.
Once we reached La Paz, it was time to hit the streets for some shopping, ice cream and people watching.  Dinner came and went and now we all on the boat.  Some are frantically packing the last of our belongings because in the morning we wake early again and begin our long journey home to the cool Alberta spring.  Thank goodness we have one week to adjust to life back home before we go back to school.  YAY for Spring Break!
