Life at the habitat is pretty relaxed. No huge responsibilities.

A male and his females hang out. The male barks as we pass by.

A typical male pose.

The sea lions are used to the tourists.
They actually look forward to the visits.

A beautiful female sea lion watches us.

A Sally Lightfoot crab scurries along
the barnacles in search of dead, decaying food.

A Blue-footed Booby contently watches life around the habitat.

Pelicans spend the afternoon feeding
on the schools of sardines passing through.

We end our day as the moon is rising in the sky.

Our First Day at Sea

Woke up today with the Fiesta in motion and the aroma of fresh brewing coffee. Over a healthy breakfast of scrambled eggs and fresh salsa, we reviewed our agenda for the day. However, I missed out on the discussion because i am looking out at the shining sun glittering off of the waves. It's a beautiful cloudless day and we load into a small boat called a panga. It takes us to a pristine white sandy beach. Cacti sprinkle the background and the blue green water is warm and inviting. The crystal clear water reveals bright colored coral and hundreds of tropical fish and seastars. I feel blessed to be in such a pristine and private oasis, surrounded by nature.
After what feels like a perfect morning at sea, I return to a traditional Mexican comida (lunch) of fresh chicken tortillas and guacamole. YUM!!!!! After an afternoon siesta (nap), we hop on the panga again and we're off to Los Isolotes to visit the sea lions. I expect to see one or two sea lions, but there are 100 or so. all over the island! The lager sea lions (males) barked at us as we approached, and we noticed the females were lighter in color, a golden brown. They swam gracefully but wobbled awkwardly on shore.
Beautiful birds littered the cliffs above them, and we came close enough to see the pale blue feet of the Blue-footed Boobie!
I am amazed at the diversity of the sea life we have witnessed in just one day!
As we anchor for the night I sit back with a cold beer in hand and wonder what will tomorrow bring?
