Day 3

The day started with a beautiful Baja sunrise.

Sherry takes it all in on the bow of the ship.

Most of us gathered in front of the
wheelhouse in search of whales and dolphins.

As we rounded the point, enroute to Palmo Solo,
we encountered a small pod of feeding Bottlenose Dolphins.

They glided alongside the boat for several minutes.

We landed on the shores of the small community of rancheros.

Gifts in hand.

One of six homes that make up the community.

Alma, invites us over to visit.

The community members are mainly goat herders.

Some of the kids (young goats) penned.

One of the cows meanders through
the yard and stops in front of the house.

A couple of donkeys hang out by the freshwater well.

The goats are coming down from
the hills and Nanny prepares to water them.

We head down the beach towards the panga.
The wind is still picking up and the seas are
getting rougher. It was time to head back to the
ship and find calmer waters.

Nobody was safe from Stasia's "whoopee cushion" antics.
Unfortunately Sergio, the crew member, was the first victim of the day.

As we explored San Evaristo, we handed out some of the

gift packs to the local residents. Please refer to Baja Gifts - part 2.

A quick photo op in front of a large Cardon cactus.

A beautiful view of the salt pans.

The donkeys had come down from the mountains
to water at the freshwater well near the salt pans.

Checking out the commercial salt pans.

Melanie collects a small bag of sea salt.

The local cemetery was located on the upper part of the beach.

Collecting quartz agates on the beach.

We had finally come to the end of our adventure.
As usual this particular naturalist is passed on the job as usual.

The rest of the day was spent on 4 Pillar lessons.

Pig Day

We woke up bright and early to view dolphins swimming alongside the Fiesta. The sea was already rough and a few of the women found themselves a bit under the weather.
Those of us who felt up to it landed on the rough shore of the island to drop off the gift packs for the Baja Gifts program. The families were happy to see us. We all found this experience to be wonderfully rewarding and spiritually uplifting. Thank you Panterra for including us in this experience. We took a moment to explore this beautiful area of "Rancheros". Our stop was short due to the roughness of the sea. We were soon off to calmer waters.
Our next stop took us to the coastal fishing village of San Evaristo. We distributed more gift packs and the smiles on the children's faces were heartfelt. While there we visited the commercial salt pans. It was really quite something.
Later in the afternoon we took a quick dip in the sea and spent the remainder of the day with Four Pillars training.
We saw a few more dolphins.
Even though the day started off with rough seas, a good day was had by all.
