Baja Gifts Program - part 2

Recipient 3 - Esc. Juan H. Mendoza - El Rosario

Once off the highway it's about a half hour drive along a
dirt road that seems to get smaller as you get closer to
the town. On the way we encountered a herd of cattle
on the road. El Rosario is a ranching town of approx.
30 families. Not all the kids go to school.

A cemetery lays at the foot of the town entrance.

Most of the homes have beautiful Bugambia trees in their yards.

A beautiful little church can be found beside the school.

The school - Esc. Juan H. Mendoza

The teacher Manuel rings the school bell to let the
kids know lunch is over and they must return to school.

At the entrance of the school we asked some of
the kids to help carry a rubber bin full of gift packs.

Right away a couple of the guys offered to help.

Stasia sets up for the distribution of the gifts.

First the girls are given their gift pack and also a rosary.

Manuel and his students pose for a picture.
There are only 6 girls in the grade 1 - 6 school.

Stasia then hands out the gift packs and rosaries to the guys.

There are 11 guys in the school.

The total school population 17 students.

Recipient 4 - Catholic Church San Jose Obrero in Colonia Marquez de Leon

30 woven blankets are loaded up into the car.

Dropped off at the church and distributed to the children.

The church also has a breakfast program for the community.
So, $240.11 ($2300.00 pesos),  the last of the $1665.00
initially donated was given to the church towards the program.

I could never have imagined what $1665.00 US worth of gifts could do to so many lives. We did not set out to change lives we simply enhanced lives for the brief moment we encountered these beautiful children. All they know is that a Mexican woman (me) who doesn't speak Mexican had some wonderful friends that cared about them enough to share a few gifts.

I would personally like to thank Deanna and her grade 11 class for this "Journey of Giving" which has inspired and started us on a new path of giving.

Hugs and fishes to all of you who contributed to this donation.
