Day 6 - Photo Journal

This day started with a visit to the salt pans
actively mined by the fishing village of Isla Partida.

Megan and Shae-Lynn take a closer look and...

... and the Nickster takes a taste.

Probably not such a good idea. After all it is SALT!!!!!!!!!

Then a quick hike over to Cactus Alley where the students poke around.

Jala chews on some cactus fruit...

Others take "poking around" literally.

Megan decides to try and catch a little lizard.

What she didn't realize was that there was a 2 ft.
long Desert Iguana watching her from a few feet above.

Once again we have the opportunity to explore a low tide.

A very large brittle star is found hiding under a rock.

Under the rock were more brittle stars and Slate Pencil sea urchins.

Under this rock we found 4 large flatworms that moved rather fast.

This rock had purple sea urchins and a couple of young Gulf Sunstars.

We were able to gently remove one to reveal the mouth and tube feet.

A side shot of the tube feet.

Glen finds an adult Gulf Sunstar.

And that concludes our island adventure.
