Chase River Pathfinders

Day 1

Flying over some of the islands we would be exploring.

In the middle of the picture (bay) is our ship the MV Fiesta at anchor.

The city of La Paz.

Going through customs and immigration.

Colleen is the first of the group to clear customs.

Finally we have the gang together and head for the taxi vans.

Putting away the passports and getting organized.

Finally the group can relax.

With the boat at anchor we load up the
gang and their bags and cruise out to the Fiesta.

Once on the boat the group chillax's as we ready the boat for departure.

Lindsay and Courtney find a comfortable spot on the bowsprit.

Taking in the sunset.

As always an amazing first Baja sunset.

Dear Journal,
We all had to get up really early (1-2 am - Aly didn't go to bed at all!) to go to the Victoria International Airport. From there we went to Seattle thern from Seattle to LA, and now LA to La Paz. The flight is an hour and 52 minutes from LA to La Paz.

The view is nice.

So as everyone knows we are an hour and 15 minutes away from Mexico and it's unbelievable. I speak for everyone when I say OMG we're going to Mexico. So our day started around midnight and it's been interesting. The flight from Seattle to LA was the longest but great views from the plane. Now it's time for take off...

Ah what a start to the day waking up unnaturally early and watching the sun rise as we flew out of Victoria. It's hard to believe that after such a long flight it's still only 11:56 am. After a cool morning of air conditioned planes, we all greatly anticipated the heat in La Paz.

We are currently over Tijuana. Party time! Oh yeah, we're still on the plane. NUTS!!!
Ironically, the pilot is explaining how much gas the plane uses and how it would be cheaper to drive. We patiently wait for lunch.

We landed in Mexico, finally! We walked down the airplane ramp and the heat was almost unbearable, 93 degrees F. Even in the shade we were sweating.

After we got our luggage we hopped into 3 white vans and headed off to the boat. Once on the boat, after taking a 2 minute motor boat ride, we boarded the ship, sat down in the air conditioned salon, drank water and Lexplained safety rules and regulations for our safety onboard.

After Lela had finished her talk we had dinner. We had beef tacos with homemade salsa and soup. Everyone agreed it was delicious! Now we are all just relaxing and playing games before bed. We are all so tired. I think we will fall asleep very quickly!
