Daily JournalSummer Cruise for Teachers
|
![]() Our day began with an amazing sunrise. ![]() Some of us kayak to the beach where we would meet the rest of the group for a morning snorkel. |
![]() Once at the beach we all geared up and headed into the water. ![]() There was lots to see! |
![]() A Barber fish swims by. ![]() A couple of Chocolate Chip Seastars. |
![]() A Guineafowl puffer also explores the area. ![]() There were many stingrays observed cruising along the bottom of the seafloor. |
![]() After our snorkel we headed to the fishing village of San Evaristo. There we explored the area and handed out gifts to some of the village families. (please click on the Baja Gifts Program for the gift distribution). |
![]() There were many species of cactus to discover. Here Paige poses in front of an Old Mans Beard cactus. needed fan belt for our onboard air conditioning system. Luckily we got a heck of a deal on this fan belt as (obviously from their showcase) they had
it in stock! |
![]() Along our path we encountered a couple of wild donkeys. ![]() Juan Jethro takes refuge in the shade in front of the school. |
![]() As we explore the area we cross the path of a bull hanging around the local watering hole. ![]() On the other side of the village is a commercial salt pan which we headed down to explore. |
![]() We found a couple of guys shoveling and raking the salt into piles for harvesting, in the heat of the day. ![]() To my amazement, and for the first time ever, we observed brine shrimp swimming in one of the salt pans. |
![]() The worker finally takes a break! It was at least 100 degrees F when we encountered him. ![]() We finally reached the other side of the beach searching for sea treasures. ![]() Ron finds a jellyfish washed up onto the shore. ![]() Exhausted Steve drops to his feet and we decide it's best to call for the panga to pick us up. Not really, it just made for a great line. We had come to the end of our adventure. ![]() Back at the boat the skipper had been fishing and caught a Mexican Needlefish. ![]() The late afternoon and evening were spend at our leisure, swimming, kayaking, reading and simply chillaxin'. |
