Day 3 - Part 1

The morning started with dolphin sitings.

They headed towards the boat to play.

They were Bottlenosed Dolphins. We played with them for a
time and they eventually left to continue their morning feeding.

When we returned to the bay our shrimpers were back.

So we headed out with gift bags in tow to
see if we could grab some fresh shrimp for dinner.

They must have had a good catch the
Magnificent Frigate birds were hanging around.

They were all over the boat and pooping everywhere!

When we pulled alongside, the crew were still
unloading the catch from the night. So we left our gift
bags and were told to come back in a couple of hours.

Unfortunately Stasia was the victim of the nasty birds.

All pooped out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our next stop was a shore excursion to the
small coastal town of San Evaristo. Gifts bags in hand.

It was quiet and scarcely anyone around so
we headed down to the commercial salt pans.

We explored the settlement around the salt
pans leaving the gift bags at the different doorsteps.

A Turkey Vulture high atop a Cardon cactus looks on.

The settlement had about a dozen head of cattle.

One of the small homes. It looked like it was newly built.

A graveyard can be found in the area.
Tombstones date back to the early 40's.

We ended our mid-morning
exploration collecting treasures from the beach.

Day three began with a bang as we hoisted our anchor and headed north. Our goal this day was to hand out some of the gift bags we had organized to the people that live in the areas we were going to explore.

As soon as we left the bay, we were greeted by some playful dolphins that decided to take a break from their feeding. They rode our wake for time and then continued on with their business as we stayed steady on our course for San Evaristo.

Along the way, we encountered the shrimp boat we met up with the day before.

We loaded the panga with some gift bags for the crew and hoped that we could get some fresh shrimp for dinner. The birds told us that the catch was fantastic as they were hanging all over the boat. We pulled the panga aside the ship and gave the Captain some of the gifts. Unfortunately the shrimp were not ready for selling yet so we were told to come back in the afternoon. Just as we were getting ready to go back to the fiesta, about 30 birds pooped all over me. I swear I heard them say "ready, aim, FIRE!". Unfortunately we had to go back to the boat empty handed and dirty... what a poopy deal!

We continued on our journey north to the town of San Evaristo where we dropped some gift bags at the school and to some of the families along the way. We walked through the little village on our way to the beach where we collected shells and many other treasures.
