The rest of the group took the pangas to shore.

As we explored the beach we
encountered the dried up remains of a Balloon Fish.

We poked around in the tidepools.

Brad discovers two very large Red King crabs.

Scott with crab in hand.

Bryce helps the crab back into the water.

They were found high and dry on the

beach so we put them back into the water.

As we continue our exploration...

We encounter a Synapted Sea Cucumber.

Back at the boat we prepare to head out whale watching.

Our first encounter - Common dolphins.

More commonly known for their air acrobatics.

Gliding through the water effortlessly.

Liam, Amanda and Kristina whale watching on the bow.

To end the day a blue whale decides to drop by.

The blow (spray) glistens in the setting sun.

Right off the bowsprit.

After our beach combing excursion we took the Fiesta to our afternoon anchorage. We ate some lunch and headed for another beach called Lobster Lagoon. Unfortunately before we got to the beach the wind picked up so our snorkeling plans were cancelled. Instead, we explored the beach looking for fish skeletons and sea shells and had another chance to see what was happening in the tidepools.

We found three king crab that were washed up on shore and made huge attempts to rescue them from the birds and the elements by placing them back in the safety of the water. After an hour of playing on the beach we returned to the Fiesta and headed out once again for some whale watching.

Once again we were not disappointed because we saw whales everywhere in our line of sight. We managed to encounter some dolphins too. We happened upon another couple of blue whales who we watched for a while again. At one point they surfaced right off the bow of the boat. That was an incredible thrill. I don't think I will ever get tired of hearing the sounds of a whale on the Sea of Cortez. We also saw a humpback whale in the area.

After a fantastic whale watching adventure we tucked into our calm bay for the night, playing cards and laughing until it was time to slide off into a peaceful sleep. Early to bed... early to rise. We couldn't wait to see what the next day would bring to us.
