Summer Cruise for Teachers

Day 1 - Photo Gallery

Our first day at sea started with a snorkel at Lela's Beach.

The sea was alive with lots of marine life.

School of Scissortail Damsel fish.

Crown of Thorn seastar.

Fang-toothed Blenny.

The body of a Zebra Moray Eel.

We left Lela's Beach and headed to the
California sea lion habitat of Los Isolotes.

The sea lions are not afraid of tourists.
They are amazingly tolerant.

Two friends chillaxin' in the sun.

Courtship of the Blue-footed Booby.
It was quite a performance.

Female sea lion with nursing pup.

Magnificent Frigrates look on.

We left Los Isolotes and sailed to Lobster Lagoon. As we headed
to shore for a beach walk we encountered a Porcupine Fish (puffer)
inflated in the water. As we picked him up he deflated.

We landed on shore for a late afternoon beach walk.

We beach combed finding all sorts of
dead, dried up marine life laying on the beach.

The carcass of a moray eel.

Marcie and Kenton walk down the beach as the sun begins to set.

We head back to the ship with a blazing sunset in
the background. It almost looks like a fake backdrop.

While at the beach Peter collects a small bucket of hermit crabs
and brings them back to the ship for further observations... and races.

Amanda preps her crab for the intense race to come.

The ready... unfortunately I only video
taped the race. Didn't quite get a still shot.

After dinner we set up the nightlight. One or two fish guests dropped by...

and one pelican...

and that ends our nightlight presentation. Oops!!
