Snorkeling with California Sea Lions![]() We started off with a kayak around the habitat. ![]() Monique and Donna. ![]() Next up, Amanda and Dave. |
![]() Finished kayaking and ready to don the snorkel gear. ![]() We launched from the panga into about 50 ft. of water and headed closer to the swallow waters along the rocky shoreline of the habitat (15 ft.). ![]() The water was loaded with marine life everywhere you looked. |
![]() A Crown of Thorns seastar. ![]() Azure Parrotfish. ![]() One of the dominant males ominously swims by. ![]() Seeing this for the first time sends a chill down your spine. ![]() A group of females hang out just below the surface. |
![]() This is what they look like on the surface. It's called rafting. They are regulating their body temperature through their flippers. ![]() A Leopard Grouper lurks below the surface. ![]() A couple of females swims by. ![]() The male follows in pursuit. ![]() Donna and the gang observe the sea lions seemingly undisturbed. |
![]() Trish takes it all in. It is an experience of a lifetime. ![]() Yellowtail Surgeonfish. ![]() Kenton observes a female sea lion watching him. ![]() The sea lions are as curious about us as we are about them. |
![]() A school of Wavyline Grunts swims by. ![]() Dave seems at home swimming with the marine life. |
![]() A school of thousands of sardines swim by. It's a cool feeling to swim through and with them. Their synchronicity is amazing.

![]() A Bullseye stingray lays quietly on the bottom. ![]() Ending the adventure with a moment of prayer and meditation. What an amazing adventure!!! |
