Snorkeling with California  Sea Lions

We started off with a kayak around the habitat.

Monique and Donna.

Next up, Amanda and Dave.

Finished kayaking and ready to don the snorkel gear.

We launched from the panga into about 50 ft. of
water and headed closer to the swallow waters
along the rocky shoreline of the habitat (15 ft.).

The water was loaded with marine life everywhere you looked.

A Crown of Thorns seastar.

Azure Parrotfish.

One of the dominant males ominously swims by.

Seeing this for the first time sends a chill down your spine.

A group of females hang out just below the surface.

This is what they look like on the surface. It's called rafting.
They are regulating their body temperature through their flippers.

A Leopard Grouper lurks below the surface.

A couple of females swims by.

The male follows in pursuit.

Donna and the gang observe the sea lions seemingly undisturbed.

Trish takes it all in. It is an experience of a lifetime.

Yellowtail Surgeonfish.

Kenton observes a female sea lion watching him.

The sea lions are as curious about us as we are about them.

A school of Wavyline Grunts swims by.

Dave seems at home swimming with the marine life.

A school of thousands of sardines swim by. It's a cool
feeling to swim through and with them. Their synchronicity is amazing.

A Bullseye stingray lays quietly on the bottom.

Ending the adventure with
a moment of prayer and meditation.

What an amazing adventure!!!
