Day 4

A morning hike up the arroyo nicknamed Lizard Trail.

First stop lessons on cactus adaptations.

Jane and Anisha try to start a fire with two sticks.
It didn't take them long to realize it's probably not a good idea.

Meanwhile a lizard looks on.

Then Anisha and Jenna climb the rocks. Anisha gets down alright but
Jenna loses her confidence and Jessal (Stretch) has to come to the rescue.

Ryan takes a break waiting for the group to catch up.

A local grasshopper. No wonder it's called Lizard Trail.

The trail begins to meander through canyon like walls.

After a short distance Mr. D and the girls take a break.

The guys right around the corner. We hiked a
bit longer and then turned around and started back.

Finally back at the beach with the Narval waiting in the background.

On the beach a turkey vulture munches on a dead pelican.

It's Amy's birthday and after lunch she is given a birthday card...

and presents.

A Chess set, Mexican poncho (jacket) and a stuffed kangaroo.

Our late afternoon adventure took us simply exploring.

Some stayed on the beach to beachcomb.

Others went exploring the geology and found pockets of crystal quartz.

While others went in search of scorpions and
snakes. Instead we found a harmless and beautiful lizard.

We couldn't identify it in the books so we call it the Riza Lizard.

Another beautiful sunset on another brilliant day of adventures.

After dinner Amy was presented with her birthday cake. YAY!!!!

Believe it or not this is a Mexican tradition.
Frankly, I think Paloma just enjoyed it. Paloma is the cook.

On day 4 we had a great extent of fun. Our day started off with a delicious Mexican-styled breakfast that comprised of eggs, beans, and tortillas. Amy was greeted with birthday wishes, presents, and a wonderful card signed by everyone!!!!!!!!!! Lela took pictures of Amy snuggling with her kangaroo stuffy! =) Also many pictures of her smiley, happy, wonderful face. After our nutritious breakfast, all the Panterra mates went exploring to a place called “Lizard Trail”, except for Yentle. Earlier in the morning Yentle’s eye became irritated, and swollen, causing her to stay on the boat. Instead Yentle received the honor of a trendy eye patch, and became a pirate. Complete with a square gauze patch and a ring of tape around her head. After completing the successful “surgery”, Yentle and Mrs. Joblinski enjoyed a private VIP exclusive boat all to themselves. From there on, they relaxed by reading, talking, and having a morning snooze. While on the Lizard Trail.......

The rest of the Panterra kids were exploring and viewed a number of interesting things such as; lizards, cacti, snake poop, and collected pieces of quarts agate. As usual “trouble” was not far away. Two of our Panterra mates, Jenna and Anisha decided to climb a steep crevice in the rock (pretty much a hole in the rock). Climbing up the crevice and smiling for the camera was no problem, but coming down was a disaster! Anisha came down the crevice swiftly, but as Jenna started to retreat down the cliff she started to have some difficulties. It took alot of coaxing and reassurance from the group and Jessal to convince Jenna to come down, even with the help of Jessal. Continuing on with our excursion of Lizard Trail, we walked in the blazing sun in a maze of steep winding cliffs. Here we saw the quartz agate and the snake feces. By the time we reached the beach we were all exhausted and glad to see the water. Our excursion was very educational, and filled with smiles.

Then we ate another meal, lunch, and it came with an additional soup. Later on, we landed on Red Chested Booby Bay with the help of pangas. We saw many Quartz Agate on the way up a rocky cliff packed with minerals. Many of our mates climbed up the rocky cliff and at the end, we all took a picture at the top.

The whole day Riza looked for scorpions and possibly a snake. But none were found, well except for the snake poop!
