Day 6 - part 2

Snorkeling with California sea lions.
This is what they look like chillaxin', above the water.

This is what they look like below.

A cool group shot.
Albino sea lions, I think?

A school of Surgeonfish.

The male patrols the area.

It was a great snorkel. Once in a lifetime experience.

For those who didn't snorkel we explored the habitat.

A Sally Lightfoot crab looks for food to scavenge.

A male sea lion chillaxin' in the sun. That's all
they do when thet're not feeding. What a life!!!!

A Magnificent Frigate bird soars high above the volcanic island.

The onset of Common dolphins.

They came up alongside the boat to play and check us out.

So sleek as they glide through the water.

Fantastic acrobats. It was cool watching them jump, splash and play.
Sounds like a group of kids I know!

There were hundreds of dolphins
as the water boiled with them all around us.

Evening nightlight.

There were thousands of sardines in the bay.

It was neat to watch the food chain in action.

continued from Day 6 - part 1

On our way there we relaxed and sailed towards the sea lions and anchored. Most of the group went snorkeling with the sea lions but we didn’t, we stayed on the boat and hung out. But afterwards Lela took us kids that didn’t go to see the sea lions on the pangas. We also got to go part way in a cave, we thought it was scary.

After that we came back to the boat and unanchored and started on our way back south but on our way we ran into a pod of dolphins of about 300-400! It was an amazing experience, and we thought it was weird that one of the dolphins had some kind of fish attached to them. The more that we yelled and clapped the more they started to jump and be happier. The dolphins swam from side to side jumping it was so incredible. There was also a wanna be dolphin which was a sea lion that was following the group of dolphins.

After the dolphins left everyone just hung out looking for more dolphins or whales but no one saw anymore after that, we had supper then just hung out again and played games. Then everyone went to bed.
