Journey of Giving - Medical Expedition

Day 5

First order of the day was the beach.
Kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, beachcombing and exploring.

Oh yeah, and chillaxin'!

Chris heads out for a snorkel.

Eduardo soaks up the sun and the warm crystal clear water.

Kraeg finds the skeletal remains of a Balloonfish (Puffer).

Cousin Lucas, Bob and Michelle capture a Sally Lightfoot crab.

They are an amazingly beautiful crab... unedible.

Kraeg, I did mention "not edible". Spit it out!!!!

Liz, Liam and Bob explore the fossilized rocky shore.

The rock formation along the beach is fossiliferous mudstone.

That is one huge rock crab and I definitely
wouldn't want to have my toes too close to it.

The snorkel gang. Actually, I'm really not sure who it is.

Still not sure.

Yep, I know this one. Cousin Lucas.

It was once again loaded with marine life.
Rainbow wrasses, Puffer fish and Elegant coral.

Cortez Angelfish, Mexican Hogfish and several Puffer fish.

Red Stingray

Close up of a Puffer fish (Balloonfish).

The group jump. Everyone lines up.

... and they jump.

Of course, the diehards jump from the highest point on the ship.

Simultaneous jump.

Back to the boat, we pull anchor and head
to La Paz. Bringing to an end a pretty cool week at sea.

As this was our last day at sea we spent it at the beach. It was the perfect way to end an amazing journey. A trip like no other and one that will never be forgotten in our lifetime.

This trip was the pilot of many more to come.  We could have never accomplished this if we were not for every one of us that made up the team. I hope to see you back next year and if not, please know that this experience shared with you will forever be ingrained in my heart. It was as though we were in a movie, unbelievably surreal.

For those of you who have asked to be placed on a waiting list this trip is more than just a "working holiday", it is truly an adventure of the heart. A journey into the backyards of the beautiful Mexican people of the Baja.

I look forward to our next Journey of Giving 2010.
