Day 6 - part 1

A Blue whale enjoying the calm of the morning seas.

It was not bothered by our presence. It kept surfacing
and diving until we were distracted by a Finback whale.

As we headed down the channel we
encountered a pod of 1000+ common dolphins.

They jumped and splashed alongside the boat.

They were so close you could hear
them clicking and high pitch squealing.

They passed right under the bowsprit.

Recording our marine mammal encounters in the Panterra Workbook.

Exploring the treasures of Isla San Francisco.

A lizard lookin on caught the attention of Graham.

Eventually Graham caught it and we were
all able to take a closer look before letting it go.

Poking around in the intertidal waters.

Exploring the salt pans mined by the fishermen of Isla Coyote.

Heading back to the boat to continue the days adventures.

Day six started with calm seas and bright sunshine. We saw three Blue whales and a Finback all before breakfast. What a way to start a day! We sailed south from Isle San Jose to Isla San Francisco. On the way we encountered a pod of over a thousand common dolphins. We turned the shipped and cruised along with them for a while. It was amazing!

At Isle San Francisco we went ashore for an on land adventure. This included tide pool exploring, a walk down cactus alley, and viewing the salt pans of the local fishermen.
