DJ and Ray take a closer look. Andrew holds up a Sicklefin Smoothhound shark. Where do they come up with these names!!!!
Vanessa also holds up a similar shark. Amanda handles a Horn shark. Brian enjoys a little sushi. At least he knows it's fresh caught.
Ricardo starts filleting the days catch. A Pincushion Seastar is found on the beach. Students had the opportunity to feel the underside to include the tubefeet.
The palapa where the fish is preserved. Today the fishermen were preserving the days catch. First it is soaked in brine.
Then dusted in salt and hung to dry. The day before the students visited the salt pans on Isla San Francisco where the fishermen from this village mine the salt. You never know what kid you might run into. On one side of the island the fishermen have collected the skeletons of several species of whales. The breathtaking view from the top of the island. A couple of the fishermans' wives make handcrafted jewelry from shells collected from the surrounding beaches.
Michelle helps Andrew with his new shark tooth necklace. One of the handcrafted pieces. Ray and Andrew pose with one of the village elders, Manuel.
