Daily JournalESSMYDay 3 - part 2 |
| The jumpers are: (please note most of the students jumped I just picked a
few of the better shots) |
| Leanne Stasia (the naturalist) The entire gang (almost) of jumpers! After lunch we headed out for kayaking and snorkeling. |
| Alexandra and Danielle. Once at the beach, Alyssa and Taylor head out for a kayak. Good to go for a snorkel. |
| Yellowtail Surgeon fish. Brown sea urchin. Finescale Triggerfish (below Sargent Major fish). King Angelfish. |
| Chocolate Chip Seastar. |
The early evening was spent with Pilot whales. |
| There were approx. 100 in the pod.
|
| You can see the bulbous head. These whales resemble the social structure and movement of killer whales. |
| A huge splash after one of 4 breaching moments with a large male. Pilot whales rarely breach. So our day ended with a rare blessing! A Pelican drops by to hang out with the students. The evening was spent sorting gifts. Please refer to the Baja Gift Program page of this Daily Journal to follow this journey of giving. |
|
Upon returning to the boat, we jumped off of the top deck in to the ocean.
How refreshing! For lunch, we indulged in soup and enchiladas with rice.
After lunch, we went ashore in Lobster Lagoon to snorkel amongst
the vast array of sea creatures. On
the way back to the boat, we kayaked. |
