Day 7

We headed to the beach for a morning hike.

Just a cool shot!

As we started our hike we came across a small
spring area with a ton of crabs scurrying around..

Fiddler crabs to be exact.

We started our hike into the sandstone formations.

We happened upon a freshwater well used by the military decades ago.

Deep into the sandstone formations.

A lizard slithers up the rock.

A foot long "Rock Lizard".

We started to descend back down to the beach and heard a noise off to the side.

It was a small chipmunk.

After the hike we headed back to the ship.

After lunch the students kayaked and ...

... jumped of the ship.

After lunch we slowly made our way back to La Paz.
This was our last day at sea!

The Evening Talent Show

Fabbi, Jenna and Kelly recited a poem followed by
an audience incited dance to the "Macarena" song.

Streater, John and Carlin did a card trick which included taking $20.00 from

Stasia and after the card trick was over they got up and ran off with the money.

Here's the kicker, where were you thinking of running. You're on a boat running

in circles.   (just kidding it was a great trick, just don't pursue a career in magic)

YIPES!!!!

Randi, Kaitlyn, Jenna and Jenna
recited a poem about life at sea.

Haley and her partner hiding behind her, Katrina, and Carmen and her partner
hiding behind her, Laura. Did a show with the hidden partners using their
hands to apply make up and discuss Haley and Carmen's thoughts on the trip.
The hand gestures were hilarious!

Pauline (trouble) and Colleen (more trouble)
sang  a medley of verses about their experience onboard the ship.

Melissa and Randy, strumming away on the guitar, as they
sang a song about the students antics on the trip. It was a
great way to end the talent show and the evening!

Today started with a delicious breakfast of nachos with chicken, eggs, and beans. After that we had a relaxing 2 hours of travel. When we stopped, we undertook an adventurous hike into the sandstone rock formations on the beach.

We herded crabs, climbed rocks, chased some lizards, and some of us got a nice taste of the local hornets ‘hospitality’. We then had the choice of sun tanning, kayaking, snorkeling, or ‘treading water’. After the great fun in the sun, we started on our journey back to La Paz.

On our way, we were stopped by the Mexican Navy for a random routine boat check. They do this to ensure that drugs, illegal specimens, and other unallowable things are not being brought into the marina. Needless to say, some of us were quite embarrassed to show our messy rooms.

Once arriving in the Marina, we had a great lunch of shrimp tacos. When everyone was ready, we set out on a 3 hour shopping trip into the stores and booths up and down La Paz’s main street. It was very very hot and humid, but that did not stop us from finding great deals and souvenirs, and bartering (sometimes unsuccessfully) with the local booth owners.

When we got back, we all walked over to a local restaurant, Rancho Viejo, where we had a scrumptious, and affordable, dinner with lots of laughs and great conversation. It was delicious! When everyone had eaten their fill, we made our way back to the Narval.

We then started our talent show, in which everyone did awesome! Everyone’s excited to go home, but it’s safe to say that tomorrow will be a sad day.
