Los Isolotes

The volcanic habitat and breeding grounds of the California sea lions.

We hopped into the pangas and toured around the islands.

A Sally Lightfoot crab scurries along the rocks.

A mother sea lion with her young (probably weeks old) pup.

As it was the pupping season the Turkey Vultures were
hanging around eating the placenta and the pups that didn't make it.

One male challenges the other for his females and territory.

Blue-footed Boobie birds can be found high atop the rocks of the habitat.

Midcliff we found a nesting Great Blue Heron.

The snorkelers were the fist to hit the water after the island tour.

Snorkel gear donned and we were good to go.

Elegant coral (top) and Purple Gorgonian (below).

A sea lion swims by... gulp!

Once submerged the sea was alive with all sorts of cool things.

Wendy takes it all in.

Pincushion Seastar.

A King Angelfish in the company of Scissortail Damselfish.

The divers were exploring the habitat.

A visitor drops by to check them out.

After the dive and as the sun starts dropping, off in the distance
something was splashing and jumping. Whatever it was, it was getting closer.

The sun had started setting and it was a spectacular view from the ship.

Finally the jumping and splashing animals came close to the boat.
They were Manta Rays (mobulas) and they were right off the stern of the ship.

What an amazing sunset on an amazing first day at sea!!!!!!
