Daily JournalSummer Cruise for TeachersDay 4 - part 1 - Photo Gallery |
| Our first adventure of the day took us out cave exploring. Eroded pockets in the shoreline cliffs made of conglomerate volcanic ash and rocks. An opening on the other side.
|
| As we were returning to the ship we spotted a small pod of Bottlenosed dolphins. They were definitely interested in playing! |
| They glided through the stern wake of the panga. Played off the bow of the panga for awhile. Swam up alongside of us. |
| We were enjoying their company as much as they were enjoying ours. As we were all played out one dolphin came splashing out of the water as if to say adios! |
| No sooner were we on the boat and Leila and Samantha were up to no good. (On this trip I slept with one eye open the entire time) After a quick rest we headed to shore. Some decided to kayak to shore and others snorkeled. |
| It was warm, relaxing and had all the makings of an afternoon of exploring and chillaxin'... until the gang of thug snorkelers; Leila, Samantha and Beth decided to harass the kayakers. Finally onshore (with no sight of the snorkelers) the rest of the group headed out to explore the rocky beach leading into the desert terrain. |
| Rhiannon holds up the skeleton of a large Balloonfish. While Mike holds up a skull of a goat. The desert terrain is always so cool to explore. |
| The volcanic rocks are so different than what is in our backyard. The lay of the land is quite remarkable. From quartz crystals to pumice. An amazing adventure into the geology of volcanism. Rhiannon discovers the smelly remains of a marine mammal. |
